The story so far

CreativeConnection was founded in 1985 By Jennifer LaTrobe in Canada and Timothy Casswell in the UK. As the name implies the passion that drove them, and still drives them today, was enhancing the quality, creativity, and vitality of working relationships. CreativeConnection was one of the first companies to use visual minutes and graphic facilitation to illustrate the threads, themes and insights they teased out with penetrating questions.

It began in the street

Tim and Jennifer met in the late 60’s as performers in the Needle Street Theatre group. Combining their respective talents of songwriting and dance and a passion to provoke new awareness and pose iconoclastic questions.

After a period of obscurity they took the passion into community development, working with Institute of Cultural Affairs. Tim spent 5 years in The Nava Gram Prayas in India, a year in Indonesia, even ended up singing songs in Hindi and Indonesian!
Jennifer focused on social housing and public health care systems in The UK, India, Korea, and The Philippines.

These experiences taught them, the hard way, a lot about the process of change and engagement, and laid the foundations of their work with Transformative Narrative. .

VISUAL MINUTES and Animations become a thing

The use of Visual Minutes and animations became a unique selling point in themselves. In 2007 we were asked by Jude Kelly, the new artistic director of the Southbank Centre, to become Artists in Residence capturing her revolutionary vision. We were asked to capture conferences and seminars all over the world. Artists that have worked with us have gone onto establishing their own visual minute companies like “More Than Minutes” and “Woven Ink”.

THE BUSINESS GROWS SIGNIFICANTLY

In 2014 Jessica Simpson became our Managing Director for 3 years with her marketing background and the company expanded the graphic recording, corporate and marketing communications services. We began animating our visual summaries and Dann Casswell became the Director of CC Animation Studios. As well as animated films we developed digital design and social media marketing services. And all of this founded on the principles of transformative narrative and our passion for deep facilitation.

METAVISIONING and the Transformative Narrative Programme

Over the years we have organised seminars and leadership development programmes including a series questioning the sanity of economics, politics, the health system gender roles etc. We held several “Schools of Unknowing”designed to challenge the validity of cherished beliefs and explore the value of ignorance. We have partnered with Lisa Taylor The Challenge Factory and Zabeen Hirji on National conversations on the future of work. We have developed the EcoSphere of Engagement and in particular the simple but powerful process of MetaVisioning® as a way to draw people out of the problem solving mindset into Blue Sky Thinking.

This year we are launching our Transformative Narrative distance learning Programme to share the insights and learnings from our 50 years of working with the art of change.

Metavisioning is at the heart of what we do. Working with organisations to develop legends is our passion.
