Following a re-structure at UBM Built Environment, CreativeConnection facilitated a series of focus groups aimed at re-focusing and re-energising staff.
Liz Newman, People & Culture Director at UBM Built Environment was keen that a new culture should be built from bottom up and so CreativeConnection worked with teams from across the 300 strong business, holding conversations with groups of 6-10 at a time. Each group was drawn from across the business, mixing up departments and levels of responsibility.
In the focus groups, employees expressed their desire for greater knowledge and understanding of the business and for more clarity over the relationships between departments. They wanted better communication across the business and for time to be prioritised for personal development. Values that were important to employees included: collaboration; trust; sustainability; learning; authenticity.
CreativeConnection captured the conversations and ensured any ideas and plans for creating change were noted clearly. The boards were used to communicate these ideas and plans and as a reference as they were put into practice.
Just wanted to thank you for another successful couple of workshops with the Focus Groups. Feedback was extremely positive from all participants and the boards have drawn interest from the rest of the floor. I did a presentation to the whole business today and used the boards as a backdrop, sharing the content with the audience – all went very well, lots of interest, enthusiasm, engagement etc. The groups have really picked up their respective projects and are organizing follow on meetings and developing plans which is great – they really seem to have taken ownership – will keep you posted.
