Narrative is the process in which the art of 'The Story' or 'Story Telling' is developed to help organisations capture their own story and then rewrite this into what they want it to be. By interviewing key players from different levels of your organisation, a graphic image of the historical context, the unique qualities, and the story of the organisation past present and future can be created.
There are various methods we use to help you to tell your story - however our tools and methods are adapted to meet your needs so please take the following as an outline:
-
An Organisational Narrative Audit is a process that allows the whole organisation to listen to itself. The process is transformative in itself because people, in telling the story of what they are doing and why they are doing it often remember reasons and inspiration they had lost touch with.
-
Making an exhibition of yourself is an elaboration of this process in which project teams and departments engage in creating work that presents “The Art of Work” and curates an exhibition or presents a performance to which everyone is invited. Audiences are asked to give commentary and feedback and encouraged to do something similar in their own department.
-
Transformative Narrative is a more specific intervention involving a similar process of reflection and listening. It is focused on specific outcomes and usually involves a smaller group of people and particular performance targets or strategic goals. It is founded on the principle of effortlessness - ”effort creates effects contrary to your aims” – and works with the power of the story.
